purple dress; narrow vertical format, thin female figure, red hair, very light transparent eyes, pale, bony face, expression of deepest sorrow (description after S. Dittmayer); inscribed; dimensions approx. 60.6 x 36.5 cm (presumably 71 x 41 cm with frame)

Acquired in 1942 from the Kühl Gallery, Dresden; Hans Dittmayer, Dresden-Blasewitz; in 1944 removed to crates no. 1 and 2 (location as of 18 January 1946: Prague IX, Brandyska 56, DePe-Werke); reported to the local national administration in 1946, whereabouts unknown thereafter; Galerie Ketterer, Munich (65th auction, lot no. 378: Red-haired Woman, Portrait of a Lady); 1982 Galerie Gunzenhauser, Munich
