Count von der Schulenburg family, before 1942 Wolfsburg Castle (until 1932 Gardelegen County, Province of Saxony; then Gifhorn County, Province of Hanover; today Wolfsburg City); then moved to the newly built Neumühle Castle near Tangeln, municipality of Beetzendorf in the Altmark County of Salzwedel.
According to Ursula Gräfin von der Schulenburg-Wolfsburg, née Freiin von Dincklage (* 1905, † 1951), the grandmother of Günther Graf von der Schulenburg, the legal successor to the then owner of Neumühle Castle and its inventory, a selection had to be made as to which items could be taken with them and which had to be left behind due to the lack of transport capacity when leaving Neumühle Castle in flight before it was taken over by the Red Army. Among the cultural goods left behind were the volumes from the castle's own historic library.
