Description
Panel painting in paper frame: Arrival of an allegorical sailing ship (galleon) before a radiant rising sun. Motto on the flag at the stern: ‘Wills Gott nach Stettin’. Below the scene is the caption: „Die Fesseln sind entzwey, der Handel hebt sich wieder. / Drum Preussen jauchzet hoch und singet Jubellieder.“
Provenance
Formerly the Guben City Museum. Parts of the collection were apparently evacuated to Kossar (today: Kosierz) in 1942/43. The part of the collection that remained in Guben is said to have been looted between 1945 and 1948 and has been considered lost ever since.
