Description
In the foreground on the right are the ruins of Brederode, which are accessed by a path on which a hunter with two dogs can be seen from behind. In the middle ground are meadows, fields, trees and scattered houses. In the distance is the ‘Groote Kerk’ of Haarlem. Cloudy sky. Golden frame. Expert opinion: Glück (‘...an unusually important, outstandingly characteristic work by Jan van Kessel, distinguished by its magnificent conception of nature’). 11 April 1927
