All of the foundation's art objects were on display in the Heylshof before they were secured due to the war - the Lenbach in the former dining room. It was probably stored in the cellar before the destruction, or perhaps - like some less valuable objects - it remained in its place upstairs. In the latter case, it could have fallen victim to the destruction.
