Description
Circular pocket watch with open-fronted case, the back lined with red velvet; flat face with double numbers - Arabic digits on the periphery, Roman digits towards the centre; allegorical depiction of Time on the centre of the face: genius holding a cloth with the watchmaker's name "RAFFARD / LONDON"; sturdy verge escapement and richly decorated, open-work cock with blackened engraving; circular enamel medallion applied to the clockwork, depicting a young woman in a low-cut red bodice, blue cloak and hat with pink feather, holding a clay pipe to her mouth with her left hand; engraved on the plain bottom plate: "345 RAF[F]ARD / LONDON".

Purchased in 1904 from G. J. Roghair in Holland, for the sum of 60 marks.
