Previously attributed to the school of Rembrandt in the 1895 Jolles catalogue; later sold as part of Dr. Einar Perman’s collection at Sotheby’s Mak van Waay, Amsterdam on June 9, 1975 (lot 88) as by Pieter Rottermond (act.1632-1649).
