Durand-Ruel; Alfred Lindon collection, acquired from above; looted on 5 Dec, 1940, from Chase Safe Deposit Company, 41, rue Cambon, Paris; transferred on 10 Dec, 1940, to Jeu de Paume; sent by Rochlitz to Mühlhofen bei Meersburg. On July 9, 1941 the art dealer Gustav Rochlitz exchanged eighteen ‘degenerate’ paintings for one portrait by the artist Tizians, Portrait of a Young Lady. Most of the paintings belonged to Alfred Lindenbaum and Paul Rosenberg.
