Provenance
Originally Jacob Marquard from Glauburg, then Ducal Public and Private Library Meiningen, stamp see page property stamp; history of loss: Since 1942, the library was stored in safe rooms in crates at Elisabethenburg Palace in Meiningen for reasons of air protection. Southwest Thuringia was first occupied by the American and from 1 July 1945 by Soviet occupation troops. Looting and taking of library holdings by occupation troops or third parties are not excluded. The library stock was transferred almost entirely from Meiningen to the former USSR in 1946 as so-called loot art.
