Because of Nazi reprisals and Verfolgungsmaβnahmen Walter and Vilma Kristeller 1936 decided to emigrate to New York. In September 1936, the "removals" were packaged and stored at the Berlin Spedition Gustav Knauer. Among the embedded objects, there were also various works of art.
