In 1942, the majority of the Council Archive's holdings were moved from Görlitz to the Joachimstein Monastery in Radmeritz. When significant parts of the holdings of the Görlitz Council Archives were returned by the People's Republic of Poland, some important archival documents were missing. These included the so-called ‘Golden Bulls’.
