The painting was acquired before 1723 via ‘Hoyer durch Naumann’. It was one of the works that had been missing since 1945. It returned to the gallery in 2002 after it was recovered with the support of the association of the Freunde der Staatlichen Kunstsammlungen Dresden e.V.
