Provenance
History of loss: The glass from the art collection was stored in 10 crates (numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, 9, 10, 21, 22, 26) in Tambach Castle. Eight boxes were located in the central building of the castle, two (4 and 26) in the sacristy. The two boxes placed in the sacristy were found opened after the Americans moved in. The items in the boxes were badly damaged and were therefore placed in three display cabinets in the castle by Countess von Ortenburg to prevent further destruction. According to an examination of the jars from salvage box 4 kept by the Countess, A.S.333 was one of the losses (see minutes of 14 August 1947 and addendum to minutes number 9 of 14 August 1947). Destroyed by bombing or the impact of war or could no longer be found after 1945. The glass is then described in more detail in the list dated 1 March 1949 of artefacts that have presumably been lost through looting or theft since the invasion of the occupying troops.
