The paintings were sent from Prague in August 1939 in two lift vans bound for London, together with other inventory from the flat. On 17 August 1939, the lift vans were stored in Bremen's free customs port. On the instructions of the Bremen Chief Finance President, the two lift vans were released on 6 July 1942 and transported away to an unknown destination. - Notification from Bremer Lagerhaus-Gesellschaft to the British Military Government Headquarters for Bremen dated 16 January 1947.
