The books were moved to Coburg in 1943. They were presumably sold after the war by the former Duchy of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha. One of these books, a block book, was sold in New York in October 1987 for the sum of $2.2 million to the London firm Quaritch (see letter from Dr Claus dated 19 January 1988). Destroyed by bombing or the impact of the war or could no longer be found after 1945.
