Description
Late 17th century. Three ball feet. Above the feet and on the lid applied tendrils. Three engraved fields with seneries of Ovid's Metamorphoses,parrots in between. Marked on the lid and outside of the base with the Augsburg assay mark and the maker's mark of the goldsmith Joh. Christof Träffler (ϯ 1722.)
Provenance
Until May 1945, the object was kept in the Dresden City Hall (seat of the Dresden City Museum). It was stored there together with the other handicraft exhibits of the museum - packed in boxes - in the cellar. Lost since the end of the war.
