Militaria (Torgau Armored Association)

On May 3, 1945, approximately 20 medieval suits of armor from the armory of the Torgau Armored Association (based at Hartenfels Castle) were taken to the United States as spoils of war by the 272nd Infantry Regiment of the 69th US Infantry. Eyewitnesses reported an exhibition in St. Louis. It is believed that the suits of armor are now in private ownership or in the possession of the regiment's veterans' association.
