History
Adolf Sultan (1861 - 1941) was a liquor manufacturer. In 1906, the extended family in Berlin moved out of Rankestraße 33, into the villa commissioned by Adolf Sultan from the architect Richard Riemerschmid in 1905 at Delbrückstraße 6 on Lake Hubertus in Berlin-Grunewald (the villa was demolished in 1965). The family residence in Berlin Grunewald was sold in 1922 and Adolf and his 2nd wife Coba Sultan moved to Kümmernitz/Havelberg, about 100 kilometres from Berlin. In 1927 they returned to Berlin to a smaller property, at Ernst-Ring-Straße 2-4 on Nikolassee. The name Adolf Sultan was erased from the land register in 1939. Numerous members of the family were murdered in the Holocaust or took their own lives; few managed to escape.
