Description
From an elevated vantage point, the view wanders over a group of figures in the foreground - two resting pilgrims, a woman with a pitcher on her head and a child, and a little further back two other women - to the city view of Terracina over the sea inlet central ground, in the background to Monte Circeo.
Provenance
Until 3.12.1940 owned by a Hans Thiel in Berlin. Karl Haberstock bought it from him. He sold the painting on 17.2. and 12.4.1942 to the Hamburger Kunsthalle.
