Description
Rectangular Torah shield (Hebrew: Tass) with curved upper and lower edges. On both sides, a fully rounded column with a flame crowned by a red glass stone. In the lower centre, an oval cartouche with Hebrew inscription, above it the shield field for the holidays, flanked by two rising lions with gilded manes. These lions hold a crown decorated with glass stones in their paws. The background of the sign is richly decorated with acanthus leaves. Hebrew inscription by the donor, Shmaya Ben Asher David and his wife Sheva Bat Menachem from Treuchtlingen, dated 1754.
