Description
Probably made in Flanders. The carpet depicts a male hero dressed in a short chiton with armour-like attachments and a helmet ending in a dragon's head. His cloak is puffed out and he carries a cup in his left hand. He stands in a forest landscape with a round temple visible in the background.
Provenance
Part of the furnishings for the guest house set up by the city and the RMVP in Rheydt Castle, especially for Joseph Goebbels. Probably in Rheydt Castle from 1942, but at the latest from 1944.
