Portrait of Amandus Abendroth
The portrait shows the Hamburg merchant Amandus Abendroth (1803-1840) in a seated posture, turned slightly to the left. His gaze is directed seriously towards the viewer.
The sitter has slipped his right hand into his black coat in a Napoleonic gesture. His left forearm rests relaxed on a table in the front right of the picture, on which stands a white, gold-trimmed cup with saucer and silver spoon.
Behind the sitter on the left, a curtain gathered to one side reveals a view of a river landscape. Back: Inv. no. from the museum "1935, 54", on an old black and white photograph: Inv. no. 1935,54, sticker from the museum with painting data on stretcher at the top.
