Description
So-called sausage tins were a specialty of the Nuremberg masters of the 18th century.
The basic form is an elongated oval. The smooth wall shows at ground level two flat beads, separated by a band. On the side a button handle. The removable lid is smooth except for two ribbons at the bottom.
Caption: On the cover faintly recognizable stamp with coats of arms and initials: "RT" (?).
Provenance
Purchased on 09.08.1937 by the Kunst- und Altertumsverein e.V., Tübingen for 3 RM, previous owner unknown. In 1941 with the dissolution of the association passed into the possession of the Municipal Collection.
