Laced chain
Gold-plated double guilder on the occasion of the restoration of the Mariensäule under Maximilian II. Joseph, surrounded by a setting of two twisted and gilded silver ribbons, interspersed with a spiral of silver wire. Gilding of the coin almost completely rubbed off. Oval grooved eyelet on the upper side.
This double guilder was only issued in 1855 and is made of solid silver. In front Maria as Patrona Bavariae standing on the crescent moon with Jesus child, sceptre and crown on the column pedestal. Backside profile of the Bavarian king Maximilian II. Joseph.
Purchase (after forced delivery of silver together with Inv. No. Inv. No. K 1939/54,1 and K 1939/54,2, K 1939/54,4 to K 1939/54,6 and K 1939/55)
As forced delivery of precious metal (silver) in accordance with the "Dritten Anordnung auf Grund der Verordnung über die Anmeldung des Vermögens von Juden" of 21 February 1939 to the Regensburg Municipal Leihamt. On 12 June 1939 purchase by the Museum Regensburg together with Inv. No. K 1939/54,1 and K 1939/54,2, K 1939/54,4 to K 1939/54,6 and K 1939/55 for a total of RM 30,-.
Note in the inventory book: "From Jewish possession in Regensburg in June 1939 by the Pfandamt Regensburg add. with 1939/55 at 30,- [RM]". Previous provenance unknown.
Following extensive research, during which no previous legal owner/heir could be identified, the property was transferred/gifted to the Jewish community in Regensburg under reserve.
