In March 1949, the painting came into the possession of the Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden (Saxon State Archives, State Archives Leipzig, 21794 NL Kurt Herrmann, No. 355, without pagination) by means of a transfer from the State Police Department from the collection of the Prussian State Councillor Kurt Herrmann, which was confiscated in October 1945 and expropriated in November 1948.
An acquisition context caused by National Socialist persecution cannot be ruled out, since Kurt Herrmann's painting was only purchased after 1940, possibly from the aryanised art dealer Goudstikker (Miedl) (Saxon State Archives, State Archives Leipzig, 21794 NL Kurt Herrmann, no. 344, pp. 3-7; BArch, B 323, 74).
