About the institution
During excavations in the open pit apron of the Nochten mine near Weißwasser in Upper Lusatia, employees of the Landesamtes für Archäologie (State Office for Archaeology) found several wooden boxes with art objects that were probably hidden at the end of World War II. In detail, these are 4 large wall sconces, 2 standing sconces, 1 sculpture of a Bodhisattva, 1 tureen, 1 Pieta and 1 equestrian statue.
The objects were returned to the heirs of the former owner in January 2015.
