Description

Approximately 180 volumes. Papyri and possibly material for the Grimm brothers' German dictionary. (A letter from the Academy to the Mecklenburg State Ministry in Schwerin dated 19 June 1943 states that these are ‘books not otherwise available in any library in the Reich, as well as papyri and possibly material for the Grimm brothers' German dictionary’.)

History

Transfer in 1943 to Göhren Castle. The fate of the manuscripts, which were transferred in 25 boxes, remains unclear. During the repatriation of scientific working materials carried out on the basis of SMAD Order No. 187.
