Library material, book

Until 1945, the library and archive were not separate. In 1937, the SS cleared out the holdings and moved them to Leipzig and Berlin. In 1964, large holdings from the publication office were returned by the Americans to the Herder Institute in Marburg. These included very few Sorbian books. It is assumed that further holdings from the institute are located in the USA.
