Description
Square bottle made of heavy, colorless glass with a rectangular cross-section, round shoulder and short neck, depicting a bearded weaver at his loom made of carved, polychrome wood and various other materials, apparently yarn, fabric, nails and keys, simple carved Closure closed from the inside by a long tenon with two locks hanging from a crossbar. This fairly rustic example dates to the 19th century, its origin is unclear, possibly Saxony. Judging by the proportions, it is rather small in size.
Provenance
Formerly Museum Neuruppin, former Zieten Collection. During the Second World War, parts of the collection were moved to locations including the Neuruppin District Office and have been considered lost since the end of the war.
