Description
A trumscheit, known as a ‘nun's fiddle’, was a stringed instrument with only one string that had been around since the Middle Ages. The photo shows the instrument on display in 1943 on the first floor of the former Guben City Museum.
Provenance
Formerly the Guben City Museum. Parts of the collection were apparently evacuated to Kossar (today: Kosierz) in 1942/43. The part of the collection that remained in Guben is said to have been looted between 1945 and 1948 and has been considered lost ever since.
