Description
Almost square shooting target Motif: Three gentlemen, one of whom is pointing at objects on the table, another apparently surprised by this. Two rifles on the floor to the right. To the left, a view of the Neisse Bridge and surrounding buildings. Accompanied by a banner with the caption: „Was sonst verlohren war, Ist pünktlich wieder dar. 1779 d. 19. Aug.“. To the right above it, a target. At the bottom right, the signature: ‘J.S.H.’
Provenance
Formerly the Guben City Museum. Parts of the collection were apparently evacuated to Kossar (today: Kosierz) in 1942/43. The part of the collection that remained in Guben is said to have been looted between 1945 and 1948 and has been considered lost ever since.
