Description
Framed. Portrait in half armor with laurel wreath, inscribed at top right: “RVDOLPHVS ROMANOR. IMPE / RATOR GERMAN. HUNGAR. BOHEMIE / REX AETAT. XLVII Ao. 1599.” The painting depicts the former ruler of Bohemian Lusatia. It was exhibited in the guild hall of the former Guben City Museum.
Provenance
Formerly the Guben City Museum. Parts of the collection were apparently evacuated to Kossar (today: Kosierz) in 1942/43. The part of the collection that remained in Guben is said to have been looted between 1945 and 1948 and has been considered lost ever since.
