Description
inscribed at the bottom left: S in a rhombus; Downwards a road, on the right a well, in front of a house with oriel windows a rider facing inwards, saying goodbye to his girl. To the right the dog, straight ahead to the back a Cistercian church, in front of it a wall with bushes: Blue sky with white clouds. Preliminary drawing in the sketchbook 1858-60: multiple sketch of the rider and the girl, pencil on white paper, 15.2 x 22.3 cm.
