Description

Shown is a hunting scene with riders on horseback with large dogs leading the way. The subject of the painting is possibly similar to the painting ‘January’ (c. 1590/1600) by Leandro Bassano (1557-1622) in the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna (inv. no. GG 4249, [external link]. An untrimmed version / copy of the painting is in the Tula Regional Art Museum in Russia [external link].

around 1925 purchased in Italy; in the early 1940s it was traded under duress to Dr. R., the family pysican, for medical treatmant; today possibily private property Southern Germany
