Description
Description from the general catalogue of sculptures (III 4496): Relief in (heavy) bronze frame; relief group in a brown and grey veined marble plate; Two geniuses hold a wreath over Queen Luise, a third stands on the right with a string instrument, further to the right sits a naked man with helmet (King Frederick William III) and a boy. On the rear left 3 boys (sons of the royal couple). Smooth ground, toped by rose garlands.
Provenance
Gift from Pope Pius VII to Frederick William III; the piece and its frame probably left the cellar of Berlin Castle in 1945 as a private trophy.
