Description
In Center of the picture a church, built of red bricks, covered with a roof of slates, that is surrounded by a low wall. On both sides trees and bushes are completing the background like a setting. From the middle a path bends along the church, on that some inhabitans of the village can be seen. A ruinous archway interrupts the wall; at the left side of the picture a tall oak. White cumulus clouds high above in the sky. Signed at left bottom: M. Hobemma ft. 1662. At backside label of the National Exhibition of Works of Art, Leeds 1868.
