Paintings by the Impressionists and other styles from the 17th-20th centuries
In 1945, the paintings were in private homes in Berlin and the surrounding area, in the Swiss legation in Berlin and in the Commerzbank safe in Berlin. After the conquest and occupation of Berlin in the spring of 1945, no trace of the paintings was found. The Commerzbank safe is said to have been opened by Soviet occupation forces.
