Description

Model ship on wheels, silver, gilded. Body decorated with chased Renaissance tendrils; five silver soldiers on the deck. Marked with Augsburg assay mark and makers mark.

Provenance

The Goélette was once part of the gold and silver treasure of the Privileged Archery Society of Dresden and was given to the Archery Society in the 17th century by a Danish envoy to the Dresden court. The object was kept in the Dresden City Hall (seat of the Dresden City Museum) until May 1945. It was stored there in the cellar together with the other arts and crafts exhibits of the museum - packed in boxes. Lost since the end of the war.
