The consignor was represented by the lawyers Leatherwood, Walker, Todd & Mann, Greenville, South Carolina. The exhibit was withdrawn from the auction, the city of Koblenz paid $7,500 (30,000 DM) to Bob Jones University and liquidations from English and Dutch lawyers and thus regained possession of the painting.
