Mountain scenery with animals

Loss: Ballenstedt, bank vaults, 1945/1946. All but one of the works of art stored in the vaults of three banks in Ballenstedt (including private property belonging to the Anhalt ducal family) are missing today. However, thefts must have occurred, because in 1950 the Herzog-Anton-Ulrich Museum Braunschweig bought 'Auszug zur Falkenbeize' by Philips Wouverman from a man from Ballenstedt; negotiations between the Cultural Foundation and the Braunschweig Museum. This case is an indication that presumably not all the works were destroyed after all and that thefts by the population and the occupying forces did occur.
