Description
The trumpeter stands in an arched window with the damask curtain raised; a bowl and a crystal ewer with gold mounting stand beside him; under the parapet, from which a multicoloured carpet hangs, a relief can be seen, depicting children with a goat; in the background, there is a company of diners.
Provenance
From the collection of duke Ernest II of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg (cf. 1826 inventory). Letter dated Feb. 25, 1942, with a photo request (file 8364); not found in 1942/43 (file 3514); whereabouts unknown.
