Description
Tall rectangular, embossed Torah shield (Hebrew: Tass) with a curved edge, on which only the crown is strongly carved in relief. The shield is completely decorated with interlacing, metal fittings and volutes. In the centre of the shield, framed by two twisted columns on pedestals, is the field for the festive signs. The columns are crowned by lions facing the crown. Above the crown is a canopy-like structure, below the crown a fretwork cartouche filled with scale decoration. Below the shield field is a cloth or curtain with tassels. The inscriptions on the silver festive plaques are blackened.
