The Camilli violin is purchased for 12,000 Reichsmarks from the Hamma & Co. workshop in Stuttgart. The buyer is the RMVP. The provenance of the violin for the period between 1933 and 1945 has not been conclusively clarified.
There are substantial gaps in the provenance prior to the documented purchase by Fridolin Hamma in 1941. The dealer Hamma is documented as a strategic partner of the Reich Ministry of Propaganda.
