Violin
March 1941 – Acquisition:
The Guarneri violin is purchased for 27,000 Reichsmarks from Wilhelm Hermann Hammig (mXp 3031330) in Berlin. The buyer is the RMVP. A loss due to Nazi persecution or a loss during World War II cannot be ruled out due to gaps in the provenance. Previous ownership: not verifiable.
Suspicion: reasonable connection to the forcibly liquidated assets of Jewish banker Rudolf Loeb.
Trading parties: W.H. Hammig (mXp 3031330) as a compromised dealer associated with the RMVP.
Discrepancies: diverging label information (1750 / 1736 / 1730).
Provenance gap: period before March 1941 not closed.
