Violin

Flamed one-piece maple back, two-piece top with high arching. High and powerful arches with pronounced deep moulding, especially on the back; wide and strong edges and corners, ribs tapering to a point at the corners; large, heavy and only shallowly carved scroll; the narrow, large ff holes are parallel with outward-facing lower dot holes; the ebony inlay is cleanly worked and tapers to pointed corners without lobes; only remnants of a brown, partially coagulated varnish remain on a greasy, age-brown ground. Condition: Several cracks in the lower part of the top, one of which is a transverse crack, minor repair to the sound post, crack in the right upper side, top edge partially covered.
