Provenance

Purchased at auction 199 from C. G. Boerner in Leipzig on 25.05.1938. The list of ownership in the auction catalogue for lot number 264 gives the code G (93), behind which Irmgard Heumann, the wife of the Chemnitz collector Carl Heumann, is concealed as the consignor. The banker and vice-consul Carl Heumann was of Jewish origin and was increasingly subjected to far-reaching repression with his family from 1935 onwards.
