Description
It depicts an incident reported in the Gospel of Matthew (Mt. 2, 13-18): Herod gave the order to kill all the newborn boys, because it had been prophesied to him that the new king of Israel would be among them. Thereupon an angel appeared to Joseph in a dream, warning him and telling him to flee to Egypt with Mary and the child.
