Description
Edition 56/140; Half vellum folder with 10 etchings, printed by Heinrich Wetteroth, published by Julius Schröder, Munich. The sheets are each inscribed "Goldschmitt" at the bottom right and numbered with a copy number (without edition number). On the inside back cover of the portfolio label "H. Trittler. Art Shop. Frankfurt a/M. Goetheplatz 6-8".
Provenance
sold between 1921 and 1928 by the art dealer Heinrich Trittler, Frankfurt am Main; in September 1943 transferred by the OFP Hessen in Darmstadt to the Painting Gallery and the Museum of Antiquities of the City of Mainz, tax office identification number: M. St. 88/851. Probably confiscated by the Mainz tax office in September 1942 after the deportation of the owners The identity of the owner (presumably a Mainz collector specializing in prints of the Berlin Secession and the 1920s) has not yet been clarified.
