Description
Splendid vessel with drinking cup (Kuppa) and lid in the form of a bunch of grapes: over the arched, surrounded by scattered humps round base with stepped stand, indentation and plate is a male carrier figure with handle bottle in hand (represents a winemaker with hat and bottle, walking stick in the right hand is missing), which serves as a shaft of the vessel; on the head the figure carries the egg-shaped Kuppa; the connecting link is a tree trunk with scrolled foliage; the lid is crowned by a bouquet of flowers.
Caption: on the lip edge Augsburger Beschau (Pyr) and maker's mark W (R 3, 627).
Provenance
Purchased in December 1953 for the municipal collection for DM 200 at auction LII (16/17 Dec. 1953, Lot No. 291) at the art auction house Adolf Weinmüller, Munich.
